Foothill Ranch, CA (February 29, 2018) — Continuing their longstanding commitment to the Oceanside military community, Stirling Development has donated $100,000 to the Veterans Association of North County (VANC) to further support and sustain its work. The donation was made during the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce Enlisted Recognition Reception held on February 22.
“I want to thank Stirling for their ongoing support of our work and this center,” said Chuck Atkinson, founder of VANC. “They stepped up first to help us and they’ve remained in the fight with us all these years to help keep this center going. I am very grateful to them for what they’ve done for our community.”
In 2004, Stirling was an early supporter of VANC, stepping in to help raise money along with project management and construction oversight to provide a permanent home for its more than 25 dedicated veteran’s organizations. Today VANC is a vibrant 13,500-square-foot one stop resource center in North San Diego County, where all veterans, active-duty military, and their loved ones can go for assistance with jobs, education, finances, health, wellness, and family issues.
The donation was presented at the Enlisted Recognition Reception, which was created in 2001 by the Oceanside Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee as a way for the business community to recognize the excellence of the local enlisted personnel. The evening event, which was hosted by chamber CEO Scott Ashton and held at the VANC Center, recognized Marines and Sailors who have been identified by their respective commands as top performers and contributors. The event featured Keynote Speaker Colonel John R. Polidoro, Jr. and included presentation of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce Spouse of the Year Finalists and Award. Oceanside Councilmembers Jerry Kern and Jack Feller were also in attendance.
“We are honored to support our distinguished military veterans and honor their service to our country,” said Dougall Agan, President and CEO of Stirling. “This is a gift to our veterans and service members because our organization has been profoundly impacted by the people we have met here and been able to work alongside since we began developing in Oceanside. We look forward to continuing our commitment to this amazing military community.”
